The New Jersey Institute for Technology Innovation Hub was proposed to equip NJIT with the proper facilities to develop cutting-edge teaching and research and catalyze urban renewal in Newark.

Alternative Futures (Whiteknee) worked in partnership with Tekten to develop this proposal for the New Jersey Institure of Technology. The proposal was carefully scaled to respect the urban fabric, yet detailed with materials that would provide a freshness to the streetscape. The glazed curtain wall system permits total transparency for pedestrians. The north facing facade on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard takes full advantage of the daylight for the collaborative meeting spaces and offices. The southern mass of the building requires high levels of climate control for the laboratories and is housed behind a brick enclosure.

The project was commisioned by the RBH Group as one of many developments proposed to spark the revitalization of downtown Newark.
