"Images are the adult stage of ideas. Like a butterfly unfolding its wings, the image is the materialised expression of potential." - Trond Greve Andersen.
This decade-long project is the most significant project that we have been involved with to date. It is important as a project because of its ambition and scale. It is important to us because we learned so much through our painstaking work. We were commisioned to develop preliminary images to tell the story of revitalization in Newark. These renderings had a duty to be honest to the designers and to the community... to help give voice to the blueprints of structures that were envisioned to be built in the blighted Newark downtown streets.
The forward thinking Ron Beit and the RBH Group worked with "internationally renowned architects and planners to create a master plan, and financed and redeveloped a $150 million, 400,000 square foot mixed-use community centered around educators. Through a unique public-private partnership model, RBH secured development assistance and financial backing from a wide variety of financial and lending institutions, individual investors, and city, state and federal governments." Our first images were published in architectural magazines, but also in business journals, and even in the New York Times. Construction commenced and more buildings were designed and we were fortunate to serve as the visualization company that worked with each design firm to communicate the design ideas behind each project and how each piece fit into the larger picture.
We are delighted to see how the neighborhood has taken shape. We are proud of our work and how the images we created proved to be instrumental throughout the development of this project. In fact, some of our visuals have also been used to win awards and get a LEED Silver for Schools and LEED-Neighborhood Development certifications from the US Green Building Council. It is uncanny to compare photographs of the now constructed buildings - they look nearly identical to the images we developed!
